Everything you need to know about micro wedding photography packages in London what is included, what you should expect to pay and how HOBS FILMS compares to other London photographers.

What Is a Micro Wedding?

A micro wedding is a small, intimate wedding usually with 30 guests or fewer. The term became common during 2020 and 2021 when guest limits were in place across the UK, but couples have continued choosing small weddings because of the simplicity, the lower cost and the more personal atmosphere they create.

Micro weddings take place at all kinds of venues London town halls and register offices, restaurants and private dining rooms, garden spaces, pubs, art galleries and small licensed venues. The format varies enormously: some couples have a short ceremony followed by a meal with close family; others have a full day with just a very small guest list.

What micro wedding photography has in common across all these formats is that it is tailored to a smaller, shorter day. You do not need 10 hours of photography for a 2-hour ceremony. A good micro wedding photography package gives you the coverage you actually need no more, no less.

How Many Hours Do You Need for a Micro Wedding?

This is the most common question couples ask when booking micro wedding photography in London. Here is a straightforward guide:

2 Hours Registry Office or Short Ceremony

A 2-hour package is enough for most London registry office weddings and civil ceremonies. Most town hall ceremonies last between 20 and 40 minutes. The remaining time covers your exit, family group shots and a short couple portrait session nearby. If your ceremony is short and you are heading straight to a restaurant or private venue afterwards with no extended reception, 2 hours covers everything you need.

3 Hours Ceremony Plus Extended Portraits

A 3-hour package gives you the ceremony, a fuller set of group shots and more time for couple portraits. This works well for couples who want more than a brief portrait session — perhaps a walk to a nearby park or landmark for photos or who have a longer group shot list.

4 Hours Ceremony Plus Drinks Reception

A 4-hour package covers the ceremony, a drinks reception and portraits. This is the right choice if you are having guests gather for drinks or a meal after the ceremony and you want coverage of those moments as well. Most micro weddings with a sit-down meal or informal gathering after the ceremony fit comfortably into 4 hours.

Photo and Video — 2 Hours

If you want both photography and videography for a short ceremony, our combined 2-hour package at £450 gives you one photographer and one videographer covering the ceremony, your exit and a short portrait session. One team, one booking, one gallery for both photos and the highlight film.

Micro Wedding Photography at London Town Halls and Register Offices

Most micro weddings in London take place at town halls and register offices. These are licensed for civil ceremonies and are typically much more affordable than traditional wedding venues. They also photograph beautifully many London town halls have striking architecture, grand staircases and good natural light.

We cover all London town halls and register offices for micro wedding photography.

Some of the most popular with our couples include:

Islington Town Hall Marylebone Town Hall Hackney Town Hall Camden Town Hall Southwark Register Office Chelsea Old Town Hall Stoke Newington Town Hall Waltham Forest Town Hall Lambeth Town Hall Wandsworth Town Hall Stratford Town Hall Woolwich Town Hall Westminster Register Office Richmond Register Office

We are familiar with the layout and lighting at all of these venues. Knowing a venue means we can move quickly and be in the right place when the key moments happen without needing to scout the space for the first time on your wedding day.

Micro Wedding Photography for Asian, African and Muslim Couples

Many micro weddings in London are cultural ceremonies a Nikkah in East London, a small Hindu ceremony in Walthamstow, a Sikh Anand Karaj with close family or an intimate Nigerian traditional ceremony. These are often shorter events that suit a 2 or 3-hour package perfectly.

At HOBS FILMS we cover all cultural micro weddings at the same hourly rate. No cultural surcharge. We understand the ceremonies and the key moments in each tradition so you do not need to brief us in detail on the day. Asian micro wedding photography in London, Muslim Nikkah photography and African micro wedding photography are all booked under the same packages listed above.

What to Look for When Choosing a Micro Wedding Photographer in London

Check what is included in the price

Some photographers advertise a low headline price but charge separately for travel, the online gallery or high-resolution downloads. At HOBS FILMS all of these are included in every package. The price you see is what you pay.

Ask about their minimum booking

Some London photographers have a minimum spend of £800 or more, regardless of how short your ceremony is. Our minimum booking is 2 hours at £260. There is no minimum spend beyond that.

Check they are insured

Most London town halls and register offices require photographers to hold public liability insurance before they are allowed on site. Always confirm this before you book. We carry full public liability insurance and can provide proof on request.

Read real reviews

Google reviews from real named customers are more reliable than testimonials on a photographer's own website. Look for reviews that mention the specific type of wedding you are planning registry office, cultural ceremony or intimate celebration.

Make sure they understand your culture

If your micro wedding involves a specific cultural or religious tradition a Nikkah, a Hindu ceremony, a Sikh Anand Karaj ask the photographer whether they have covered that type of event before. A photographer who understands the format will deliver better photos with less direction from you on the day.

Check whether the price changes for weekends

Many London photographers charge more for Saturday weddings or for peak months between May and September. At HOBS FILMS our prices are the same on every day of the week and throughout the year.
